Yes. Voter registration is a nonpartisan activity, and all efforts must comply with applicable federal, state and local laws. Because voter registration requirements and regulations vary by state, it is important to follow the rules specific to the state in which you are conducting registration activities. Additionally, offering or withholding any form of compensation, incentive, gift, or reward in exchange for registering to vote is prohibited by law in all 50 states. Always conduct voter registration efforts in a lawful, impartial and respectful manner.

Please keep in mind that employees in CA, CO, DE, FL, MD, NE, NV, NM, OR, TX, VA, IL, LA, MO, and WY are required to focus solely on “check your status” engagement and not engage in voter registration efforts. Employees in CA, OR, and OH are not to offer anything of value, including American flags, to those who “check their status.” 

Fly the Fly is a nationwide voter registration initiative designed to help people check their voter registration status and, if needed, register to vote. The process is simple, community- focused, and intended to encourage civic engagement through one- on- one conversations.

Your role is to:

• Help people check their voter registration status

• Assist with voter registration is they are not registered.

• Ensure each interaction is tracked correctly.

Every voter status check and registration must go through the official TPUSA Communities Fly the Flag link. Using any other website or link means your activity cannot be tracked or credited.

No. Only the official TPUSA Communities Fly the Flag link should be used.

• Your activity will not count.

• You will not receive credit.

• It cannot be manually corrected later.

• “Hey, have you checked your voter registration status recently? If not it only takes about one minute.”

• You can either hand them your phone, or tablet, OR, you can have the QR code pulled up so someone may scan and check their status/register to vote

• Pro Tip: Place the QR code for check your status as a screensaver so it’s easy to share with others.

It is how the system tracks your work. Without your FIRST and LAST name entered correctly, the activity will not be credited to you.
